D5.1 Life Cycle Assessment report - EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This deliverable presents the studies conducted for the assessment of the environmental and economic sustainability of the geotracking flexible tag (demo 1 in the MADRAS project) and the biometric sensor (demo 2). A comprehensive environmental and economic assessment has been conducted for demo 1, whereas a simplified environmental assessment was implemented for demo 2, as described in the document. Additionally, two extra studies were conducted (not required in the proposal) focusing on the assessment of the production of silver nanowires from recovered silver (from the geotracking flexible tag) and on the manufacturing of silver inks at GENESINK. The results show that printed electronics in general and MADRAS in particular have a substantial potential to improve the environmental and economic performance of electronic products.
